Running, Again

I’m running again after my meniscus tear. For the last five months I’ve been running consistently.

My fitness is still nowhere near where it was, but I’ve ramped the volume up quite steadily and even if I might not be as fast as I would like, at least there are no pains/injuries.

Even got a couple of races in - one trail and one road half marathon. Another trail coming in the following weeks to wrap up this season.

The half marathon was a bit of a reality check - I’ve averaged something like 45-55 km/week in the past two months and I was still 5 minutes short of my PR. The thing is I did a lot of cycling when I got that PR.

Just checked my stats - more than double the running volume at the moment, but still less total hours from when I PRed. And some people tell me cycling isn’t transferring nicely to running. Yeah, right.

Anyway, I identify as a runner for the foreseeable future.

It's a bit of a relieve after two Ironman races and a couple of shorter triathlons before that.

And I’ve signed up for a marathon. Of course I did.

Time to run even more consistently now, got a 3h43m marathon to beat (that was on an Ironman, so minus the 180km bike warm-up).

I even got a book :) - https://marathonexcellence.com/metric

So, marathon training starts December, racing next April.

Go. Run.
